Give Me Liberty
The speech heard 'round the colonies.
When the Second Virginia Convention convened on March 23, 1775, negotiating with the Crown was still very much on the table. That is, until Patrick Henry rose from his seat with "an unearthly fire burning in his eye." He called his fellow countrymen to arms, arguing that "The war is actually begun!"—a sentiment that would prove prophetic when, less than a month later, the first shots of the Revolutionary War were fired.
When Patrick Henry ended his speech with "Give me liberty or give me death!" every soul fell silent (even those listening outside). It was a reverent moment that tipped the scales in favor of action. Now, it's up to you to spread the word of liberty's importance. But unlike Patrick Henry, don't offer death as an alternative. It's liberty, period. Don't settle for any alternative.
