“Vince Aut Morire”

The Bedford Flag (as it’s known today) was already an antique when the Bedford Minutemen first flew it into battle in 1775. In fact, the flag predates the town of Bedford itself! Originally created to represent the Royal cavalry troop in Ballerica, the Bedford Flag fell to the care of the Page family when the unit disbanded. Nathaniel Page would later take it to the Battle of Concord Bridge to fly it against its former employer. This permanently transformed the flag from a symbol of British authority to a symbol of freedom—something we Americans are especially good at doing!
